Injection Therapy

Designed to relieve joint pain and improve mobility.

Injection therapy is a safe and effective treatment designed to relieve joint pain and improve mobility. It’s often used for conditions like osteoarthritis and other joint-related issues, helping to reduce inflammation and support joint health. The service includes the provision of both Steroid and Ostenil injections, depending on clinical need. You can book a session with our experienced physiotherapist, Byron, who will assess your needs and provide expert care tailored to you.

Steroid injection therapy

This is a specialist procedure of injecting a corticosteroid and anaesthetic into a joint or soft tissue, this is a medicine which relieves swelling, stiffness and pain by reducing inflammation.

Please note that we do not perform spinal injections as these must be done under x-ray or ultrasound guidance and I do not inject directly into tendons as this can cause tendon rupture.

If we have not seen you for the condition you wish to be injected our experienced Physiotherapist, Byron, will need to assess your suitability. If you are not suitable he will advise how you should be managed, if appropriate provide treatment, exercises, self-management advice and if required an onward referral letter to the appropriate health professional.

If you are suitable Byron will need to arrange the prescription. The prescribing therapist will contact you within two days to ensure there are no reasons you should not undergo the procedure. He will then arrange the prescription to be delivered approximately 3 days later.

Byron usually then books your injection the following week to ensure the medication has been delivered.

Ostenil injection therapy

This is a revolutionary and relatively new treatment which can dramatically relieve pain, reduce stiffness and improve joint mobility for sufferers of Osteoarthritis and many other soft tissue conditions.

It is an injection of an artificial form of synovial fluid which is the natural lubricant in healthy joints and many soft tissues.

It provides short and long term relief and helps to keep you doing the activities you want or need to do.

With over 30 years’ experience, Byron explains how the treatment works and who it may be suitable for, in our video opposite.
