Exercises for Endometriosis Pain Management

Beth, our Women’s Health Physio, explains endometriosis and how it can affect the body, particularly causing inflammation and ongoing pelvic pain that isn’t limited to periods. She highlights how this pain can lead to the pelvic floor muscles becoming tight and overactive, especially during flare-ups, as the body tries to protect itself.

Beth focuses on how to manage these symptoms by calming the nervous system and relaxing the pelvic floor. She talks through the importance of breathing and muscle relaxation, and demonstrates a series of gentle exercises designed to help. These include controlled breathing while lying down, positioning the hips to encourage muscle release, rocking movements to combine breath with stretching, and a “happy baby” position to fully relax the pelvic area.

Throughout, she emphasises slow, mindful breathing and simple movements to help reduce tension, ease discomfort, and support better symptom management during flare-ups.
